Sinead O’Connor has surprised fans by telling them that her 17-year-old son Shane has died.
The 55 year old tweeted: “My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God.
“May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Be in peace: “
She later tweeted a bob marley song which he dedicated to Shane: “This is for my Shaney. Light of my life. The lamp of my soul. My blue-eyed baby. You will always be my light. We will always be together. No limit can separate us. “
Police had previously launched an appeal for help to track down the whereabouts of Shane O’Connor, who had been missing since Thursday in Talllaght with Sinead tweeting: “Shane, your life is precious. God did not carve that beautiful smile on your beautiful face for nothing.
“My world would collapse without you. You are my heart. Please don’t stop beating. Please don’t hurt yourself. Go to the Gardai and we will take you to the hospital.
“This is a message for my son, Shane. Shane, it’s no longer funny that this is all lost. You’re scaring me a lot. Could you do the right thing and show up at a Gardai station? If you’re with Shane, call the Gardai for your safety. “
Police had previously renewed their call to find Shane, who was last seen in Tallaght, South Dublin, on Friday.
A spokesperson said: “He is 5 feet 6 inches tall, with short brown hair and
eyes. When last seen, he was wearing a black hoodie with a print
he designs dark sweatpants, a burgundy T-shirt, and tennis shoes. “
Police confirmed the news today with a spokesperson who said: “Following the recovery of a body in the Bray area of Wicklow on Friday January 7, 2022, a missing person appeal regarding Shane O’Connor has been withdrawn, 17 years old. “
Last May, Sinead posted a photo of the 17-year-old as she was photographed with her as she received her second coronavirus vaccine and many fans noted how similar they looked.
Sinead said: “My lovely 17 year old son is coming with me 🙂 Look at Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor #Gentleman.”
