“That was really beautiful and it kind of convinced me of everything.”
🚨 Warning: Spoilers for Spider-Man: No Way Home ahead. 🚨
I don’t know about you, but there was a very specific moment in Spider-Man: No Way Home where tears started to flow *, and it was when Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man catches Zendaya’s MJ, reflecting when his character failed to save Gwen Stacy in his own movie.
Well, in a new interview with Variety, Andrew finally broke his silence on what it was like to return to the Spidey-verse, including that great scene.
“My Spider-Man managed to save his younger brother’s romantic relationship, potentially,” he explained. “And to heal the most traumatic moment of his own life doing it for his younger brother.”
“Making sure he didn’t have the same fate, there’s something cosmically beautiful about it. It meant getting a second chance to save Gwen.”
He continued, “You know, the spirit that Zendaya brings to MJ is so sincere and pure and loving, and Emma brought that unique and similar spirit to Gwen.”
“I will say that the image of my capture of MJ, was really beautiful and convinced me of everything.”
Andrew also said in the interview that he would be willing to play the character again, adding that he is “definitely open to something if it feels right.”
Now if I don’t mind it looks like I have something in my eye.
