After months of speculation and denial, Andrew Garfield returned in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and that might not be the end for The Amazing Spider-Man actor’s portrayal of Peter Parker.
In a new interview with Variety, Garfield was eager to emphasize that he would be up for another appearance if the Spider stars lined up.
“I mean: yes, [I would] definitely [be] open to something if it feels right, “Garfield said.
Expanding on that answer, Garfield described the character as “a working-class boy from Queens who knows struggle and loss and is deeply empathetic. I would try to borrow Peter Parker’s ethical framework on that.”
Garfield added: “If there was an opportunity to step back and tell more of that story, I would have to feel very confident about myself.”
While that’s far from final, it is likely to fan the fires of those involved in a campaign to make The Amazing Spider-Man 3 a reality.
But it might have to be a great idea to tempt him back. In the opening speech for No Way Home from producers Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal, and director Jon Watts, Garfield said, “It sounded incredibly funny, incredibly spiritual, mind-blowing, and thematically interesting.”
In a previous interview, MJ actor Zendaya revealed how much Spider-Man’s trio of actors, Garfield, Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire, came together on set: “It was so beautiful to see you all connect on that and be able to talk to each other about an experience so special that very few people have been able to put on the suit. “
It remains to be seen if Garfield will don the suit one more time. In the meantime, be sure to check out what’s next in the MCU with our complete Marvel Phase 4 guide.
